This ARES ratcheting gear puller is my go-to puller about 90% of the time when I’m removing bearings, gears, or pulleys.
The ratcheting arms make positioning fast and easy, especially when you’re working in awkward spots or trying to keep everything square while setting it up. The ability to quickly switch between a 3-jaw and 2-jaw configuration adds a lot of versatility and covers most jobs without needing another puller.
I personally own a Cornwell-branded version of this tool and have inspected it side by side with the ARES version. If I had to bet, I’d say they come out of the same factory. The design, construction, and overall feel are extremely similar — the main difference being the price tag.
If you want a solid, versatile gear and bearing puller that performs like a tool-truck option without paying tool-truck money, this ARES puller is hard to ignore.
